What is a USDA Zone?
The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone system divides territories into climate zones based on average annual extreme minimum temperature. Each zone spans 5.6°C (10°F), each half-zone 2.8°C. Lower numbers mean harsher winters. It is the global reference for evaluating whether a plant can survive frost in your area.
